WE HOLD THESE TRUTH TO BE SELF EVIDENT THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL
I got signed for this play when Roe vs. Wade just got overturned. The play and Heidi talked about this amazing amendment in the constitution and I remember saying during the first meeting that this play could be considered almost period because of this change. I was fascinated by the character Heidi, a middle class student working for college money talking so strongly about the constitution to telling her own story and turning more vulnerable. Then in Act 2 we see this live debate and then audience participating reminding us that we are all together and human at the end of the day
Kristen loved the idea of keeping real life Heidi's style but making is comfortable and confident to Kim, similar to the first production. We wanted to keep the signature blazer but Kim loved the idea of Heidi having a past and all these accessories she might have been collecting like rings and bracelts.
The Legionnaire costume was based off what he would ware and then takes off the hat to be Mike. We found a real USS Washington hat and used the actors fathers buttons when he was active duty.
The debater was a little based off of myself. I was a similar scholar when I was very young and wore a similar uniform with these colors
